Terms and Conditions
General
These terms and conditions, together with any other written information brought to your attention before we confirm your booking, shall form the basis of your contract with St Andrews Beyond the Greens.
Confirmation of services
A 25% non-refundable deposit confirms the booking. The balance is due 28 days before the first booked date. When a booking is confirmed a contract exists between the client and St Andrews Beyond the Greens.
St Andrews Beyond the Greens’ fees includes driver-guiding hours, vehicle hire as agreed, fuel, and local taxes. They do not cover client meals and refreshments, attraction entry fees and other tickets. St Andrews Beyond the Greens does not offer accommodation.
Tour Type Definitions
- Half Day Tour: Tour in duration of up to 4 hours.
- Full Day: Tour in duration of more than 4 hours, up to 9 hours, in one day.
- Extended Tour: Tours that span over one calendar day.
If clients wish to extend their tour beyond the agreed booked time, this is normally possible, subject to availability and agreement about the additional expense this will incur.
Payment
Full payment is due within 14 days of an invoice being issued. Payment should be made to the following bank account:

Clients must meet any bank transfer fees incurred. St Andrews Beyond the Greens must receive the full invoice amount NET of any fees.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
If you wish to cancel your booking with us, you should inform us in writing by email to bookings@standrewsbeyondthegreens.com as soon as possible – the effective date of cancellation will be the date upon which we receive such written notification. Unless explicitly agreed otherwise in writing by us, in the event of cancellation by you, the following charges, plus any unrecoverable expenditure will apply:
- At any time: loss of 25% deposit.
- Two weeks’ notice or less: 50% of the total fee
- One week’s notice or less: 75% of the total fee
- 48 hours’ notice or less: 100% of the total fee.
St Andrews Beyond the Greens is not responsible for cancellations due to unscheduled closures by third party suppliers, or external delays, or other events beyond our control, but we will attempt to offer an alternative. We reserve the right to alter routes or schedules due to weather, road closures, or attraction availability.
In the event of your Guide considering that you should not attempt to do a specific tour – for example because of unexpected adverse weather – and there is no mutually agreeable alternative tour, you will receive a full refund for any monies paid for guide services.
The cancellation policy will not be varied should clients cancel tours because of conditions prevailing outside the UK. Such costs should be recovered from the clients’ Travel Insurer.
St Andrews Beyond the Greens strongly recommends that all clients have suitable travel, medical, and cancellation insurance to cover any losses that may arise.
Guide Expenses
St Andrews Beyond the Greens guides may require travel expenses depending on where they are required to start or finish a tour.
If a guide is required to stay away from home for a booking, meals and accommodation must be provided or paid for.
We will inform you of any likely expenses involved at the time of booking.
Supplement for Public Holidays
Supplements will be applicable to booking on a public holiday:
- Christmas Day, 25 December
- Good Friday, Easter Day, Easter Monday (dates vary annually)
- Boxing Day 26 December
- New Year’s Day 1 January
Group Size
St Andrews Beyond the Greens fee structure is based on a group of up to four (4) guests. Where additional guests form part of a group, additional fees per person will apply up to a maximum of eight (8).
St Andrews Beyond the Greens only offers driver guide services for groups of up to eight (8), including any tour manager travelling with the group. Larger groups will need to supply their own appropriate vehicle and driver.
Where a walking tour is booked, for both safety and tour quality purposes, we strongly recommend a maximum of sixteen (16) guests. A standard additional fee will apply to groups larger than eight (8). Some St Andrews Beyond the Greens itineraries will not be suitable for groups larger than eight (8).
Children
Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
Seat Belts and Child Seats
Scots law requires seat belts to be worn by all occupants of a moving vehicle.
Clients are responsible for providing an appropriate child car seat for babies and small children. With advance notice, St Andrews Beyond the Greens may be able to supply a suitable child seat at an extra charge.
Luggage capacity
Vehicles hired by St Andrews Beyond the Greens are intended for touring itineraries and not transporting luggage. If luggage transport is required, capacity may be limited. Clients should raise any requirement at the time of booking.
No Smoking
Scots law forbids smoking in any vehicle operated by a driver-guide.
Insurance
St Andrews Beyond the Greens guides are covered by public liability insurance.
The vehicles used are all insured for hire and reward use and they hold the correct driver and vehicle licences as required by their local public authority.
St Andrews Beyond the Greens is not liable for any loss, accident, injury or damage to clients and their personal effects.
Right to refuse service
St Andrews Beyond the Greens reserves the right to terminate the tour without a refund if a client exhibits unsafe, abusive, or highly disruptive behaviour.
Enforceability of Terms
If any provision of these terms and conditions is found to be illegal or unenforceable, that shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remainder of these terms and conditions.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
To the extent permitted by law, these terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Scots law and any matter or claim arising from them shall be dealt with only by the Scottish courts.
None of these terms are intended to contravene or contradict the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and your statutory rights under such legislation are not affected
Problems and Complaints
St Andrews Beyond the Greens is affiliated to the Scottish Tourist Guides Association (STGA). Problems and complaints should be raised promptly on the day and your guide will endeavour to resolve them to your satisfaction.
Should this not be possible, you may submit a formal complaint via email to info@stga.co.uk under the STGA Code of Conduct.
Any disputes that cannot be resolved amicably will be subject exclusively to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
